GOOD MORNING! A local friend of mine is just finishing up a National Pump to GULF and needs the correct nozzle for this pump. Here's his email to me.... "Model...10XC.....serial is ....101451.......and as I said, according to the "blue book" it was 1 of 250 made in early 1936. I found what I thought was the nozzle that came with it, but when I tried it, it wouldn't work. I think it is supposed to have a brass nozzle with a straight spout not a curved one." Any help in finding the correct nozzle for his pump would be greatly appreciated. PICS.... THANKS!

Doc--I have a lot of nozzles but I can't tell you what would have been correct for that pump? I looked at Jacks website but it doesn't really define the exact nozzle either. If it can be determined as to the correct one, someone should be able to help out.

You need a nozzle with a slot in the front of the handle guard. They are not rare.

...pretty sure that visi should be white for a No-Nox pump, and orange for Good Gulf...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Doc-- Heres a couple of Nozzles that I have that I think would work. The bottom one is a Morrison 15 inches long @ $40 and the top one is a 17 inch long Buckeye with the hook @$65. I think the Buckeye looks more like the one that Lance posted, because of the shape of the lever.

As far as all my information goes, National purchased all their nozzles from Buckeye.

OKAY, THE WAY PAUL EXPLAINED HOW IT SITS ON THE ARM IS NOT HOW MATT'S PICTURE SHOWS. PAUL SAID THAT THE NOZZLE HANDLE BOTTOM SITS ON TOP OF THE ARM AND THE PUMPS ON/OFF SWITCH (THAT ANGLED METAL PIECE ABOVE THE ARM) SLIPS THRU THE SIDE OF THE HANDLE AND LEVER ALLOWING THE NOZZLE TO ACTUALLY TURN ON THE PUMP WHEN REMOVED AND TURNING OFF THE PUMP WHEN REPLACED AFTER PUMPING ENDED. HENCE THE REASON FOR A STRAIGHT NOZZLE PIPE OR ONE THAT FLEXES. A CURVED NOZZLE PIPE WONT WORK UNLESS ABOUT 4" ARE CUT OFF.
HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE.

Doc I think your friend is resting his nozzle in the wrong place, He is resting the bottom where the slot in the nozzle should rest

OK--I'm a little confused but lets try these! TOP--Buckeye, 14 inch length, slot in back of handguard only, nozzle spout is 1 1/4 diameter
Middle--Buckeye,13 inch length no handle slots
BOTTOM--Dubuque flex,17 inch length, slot in bottom and back of handguard
From your explanation and looking at the pictures you sent & Matts picture it almost seems like he's sitting it on there wrong? Let me know if any of these will work?

Yeah--The more I look at those pictures, the more I think thats right. He's just sitting it on there wrong. The Buckeye nozzle in my first picture would work perfect!

This is the way I have always perceived it to work; Lever has to be pushed down to turn off the motor, when nozzle is lifted off rest the motor is automatic turned on.

This one does not have the pointed on/off lever. I never seen a National with the guts so I do not know if the lever would be up for on or off.

I do not know how it was supposed to go, but I think it goes the way I have them because the nozzle can not be locked if it is on top of the arm. The nozzle should be pushed forward a little more untill it is in the flat area, then a pad lock can go through the hole to lock the nozzle. If the pump is on with the lever down (still do not know if pump is on with lever up or down)then the nozzle can sit on the hook at the end of the arm and leave the pump running if needed
