Well I finally got around to putting up that shelf in the basement last weekend that I had promised myself. I always planned to put together some of my advertising clocks to display in one area. I realize that it would have been a lot simpler to just hang the clocks on the wall, especially after finding out that the wood brackets I wanted were no longer available. But hey, why do things the easy way, I would just build my own. The wiring is a bit messy right now but that's an easy fix. Also, if I decide to move the clocks I have another shelf for more globes! Cheers, Don.

...the clocks are secured somehow, right? they're not just sitting on the shelf?
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

All the clocks, except for the Hastings, are sitting on clear plastic picture stands that are cut out at the front so that the round ones don't roll and also so that they tilt back slightly. I plan to have a small edge rail along the front and apply adhesive tape underneath the stands so they don't move. Most of the clocks are around 50 years old and I don't want to be the one that breaks any, especially after all the hours put in cleaning some of them!

Well, my main concern is whether the old thin wood paneling would hold each clock securely. Where I place the clock may not necessarily be in front of a stud. Not all the clocks are light weight. I do know that my wall brackets are double screwed into studs. Also it reduces the number of electrical cords hanging down if I want to light them up from a single switch.

Very nice Don. If you have to many Imperial globes I would be able to store them in my office for a small fee. Really I could!
Looking for Canadian Imperial and Canadian North Star. John Neilsen
