Saw the ending of the modern Pearl Harbor movie (Beautiful graphics, but all overdone IMHO--visuals, script, acting) but noticed that the director liked a pair of Tokheim 36B pumps so much, a big goodbye scene was filmed next to them and neither the gal nor guy had a vehicle. If they weren't leaning against the pumps, they were awful close.

I imagine though in the full sun like that in Hawii, it would have been rather--um--gasuous smelling up close in real life.

I found myself more interested in looking at the pumps than listening to the dialoge. They were really nice looking pumps at least in the film. You can see one of them from the movie on an auction site http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2539802. The one for sale had a dixie globe, so I was wondering if a sunray globe (http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2535616) would have been on that pump for real?

Just wonderin'... smile

Sunray oil was a mid-continent area producer/ refiner dating back to the 1920s So more than likely it would have been on a 1936 pump. But not sure if it was in the Pacific coast like in the movie . That globe design go's back to the 1930s according to the books I looked at Nicole .

Why would anyone want a 36-B without a top? Funny both are missing the tops.

See what happens when some of you collectors collect TOPS only. LOL! laugh laugh laugh

I thought they looked a little different...maybe they left off the tops so the actors heads would be near the globes in the scene?
