Hi Everyone,
We are new here & was hoping we could get a suggestion on something.

First let me say that we have restored many pumps & usually don't have trouble putting them back together... LOL, However on this pump the replacement parts are different from the original.

The part is the stainless steel trim that goes on the door (Not the hose guard on the side) anyway... this trim has clips that slide up the back side of the trim & they are supposed to go into the holes of the door (where they were before) however these either are not going to go, or we are afraid to push them to hard...as we just got this pump back from the painter & it's slick! We are afraid to mess it up &/or bend the trim.

Anyone have any helpful info? Is there some trick to installing this trim?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
TJ

Easiest thing to do is get a Vari-Bit or Progressive Bit or Stepped Bit (whatever you want to call them) and slow enlarge the hole one step at a time until the clips pop in place. They need to be really snug, but you should be able to push them with tearing anything up.

Hi Folks.
Welcome to Oldgas. Seth is right on, sounds like the holes just need to be cleaned out, maybe a build-up of primer, paint and clear with possibly some body filler. Just take it slow and easy.
Ken.

The clips fit tight on mine also.I used a thick rag and a rubber mallet to lightly tap the trim into place, worked well for me.

Do any of the parts houses sell this type of trim for the Wayne 80's?

Hi Travis,
We got ours from Gas Pump Heaven, Ordered it from Diane their website is:
http://www.gaspumpheaven.com/catalog.htm

We got it Super Fast! They are in Omaha...We placed an order for parts on 3-16 (end of the day) & got it yesterday (3-20) it came UPS & that was with a weekend.

The trim comes in 2 sizes, we got the longer of the 2 & it will be perfect.

Hope that helps,
Good Luck,
Todd
