This might sound like a dumb question, but how do you tell the difference between a milk bottle rack and a oil bottle rack?? Found one for sale for twenty bucks with 3 fruit jar oil bottle in it but I am not sure if it is a milk or oil bottle rack.

Here is a picture of the rack. Looks like it is a milk bottle rack according to Don's description. Looks like this one goes on Ebay.

Thanks Don.

Keith

Here is a picture of an oil bottle rack I picked up a few weeks ago.

The handle is shorter than the milk bottle rack and is shorter than the spouts on the oil bottles????

Keith:

Generally speaking the shorter racks were sold as milk bottle racks. That being said, I'm positive that - at some time - some long ago station owner used a milk bottle rack for his oil bottles. LOL

But you would get tired of using it real quick when you kept skinning your knuckles every time you picked it up.

Brian:

That's a nice set of bottles.

You can get repro 'caps' for them from Ron Scobie. Sand-blast the spouts/caps and repaint them cream, stick a repro decal on each one and put 'em back in the cleaned up rack. They'll look great.

Just be carefull cleaning the bottles. Soap and water - and glass - can make for some interesting problems in handling them in a sink. Your best bet is to put a bath towel (not one the wife is particularly fond of!) in the bottom of the sink to cushion any dropped bottles.

Later . . .

Jim

Keith I would just keep it & put the bottles in it anyway. Also like Jim said is the best way to clean the bottles. Then your wife gets a clean sink when you are done

Thanks for the info guys. When I bought it I thought it may be a milk bottle rack and if so I knew I could Ebay it and get my twenty bucks back so no problem. Now I will know what to look for.
