I just bought one of these racks (I will post a picture tomorrow). While the sign is passable (not rusted but worn in a few places) the frame is rusty. Looking at the Sinclair Collectibles book the frame looks shiny metal like it is industrial chromed or zinc plated. So to anyone whom may know, what is it... painted for something else? Thanks in advance for your reply. John

Ok here is a picture of my Sinclair Rack.

Wow sign is better than the picture shows but you got the idea. The book shows the metal hanging plated in front of each shelf are white presumably for putting the prices on.

Thanks. John

John from the looks of it-the rack looks to have been plated- if it was chrome it would pit instead of turining into surface rust(from what I can see from the pics). I like that handle!

Most of the old racks were either plated or painted that I've ever seen from the 50's-60's. That is regardless of what they were used for. I suspect it was the bean counters saving $$ for something they figured would see some abuse.
