THE FIVE WAYNE 60S THAT HAVE BEEN IN MY POSSESION HAVE ALL HAD THE PULL-TURN PANEL RETAINERS. I TALK TO GUYS WHO SAY " OH THE ONES WITH THE DOORS THAT OPEN ARE PRETTY NEAT" BUT I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE?? AM I JUST A CLOSED MINDED OLD HILLBILLY?? DO THEY EXIST? AND IF SO, WHICH CAME FIRST/LAST, AND WHY DID THEY HAVE THE TWO VERSIONS?? I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT DISPLAY PUMPS, THE WHOLE LOWER DOOR IS ON A HINGE OF SOME SORT AS NEAR AS I CAN GATHER.. WHAT GIVES??? JED THE HILLBILLY.. I MEAN FRANK..

They made cut 60's with hinged doors rather than the twist latch skins. They don't seem to be as common on the left coast. They arent really any nicer unless you want to build a display pump using one of the kits.

This is a little off the subject but some oil companies didn't use pump plates on the Wayne 60. The entire panel that attached with the twist locks was a porcelain sign! Atlantic was one company that used those panels.

I make both styles of panels. If you need a photo let me know. I can't tell you why they did it but my guess would be that it was a lot simpler way of getting in! One lock as opposed to 8 twisters... Ron

I've owned many Wayne 60's (as I mentioned they are my favorite pump) and most of them have had the hinged door. They are all from the "Left Coast" between the Pacific, and Nebraska. (Sorry Frankie)
Here is one that did however come from the East Coast, as we don't have many Atlantic stations in Calif. If you will notice on the right hand side of the door, there are three sets of two bolt holes. These are where the hinges bolt to the door. In this case, the door is a porcelain one. By the way, I do need one of these for the back side if someone has an extra? Most of these pumps did have flat sheet metal doors. Atlantic is the only one I know of that had Porcelain doors for the #60. They had three or four different Porcelain doors White Flash, Atlantic,Etc. Happy pumping!

I have one just like the one pictured above, Atlantic White Flash porcelain doors with the hinges.
