Does anyone know how to access topics from 2008? I have a friend that is interested in motorizing his VR but I can't seem to get that far back in the topics.
It was december 30th of 2008.

When Jim changed a bunch of stuff a couple years ago, it might have limited access to the way back stuff?

I admit it can be frustrating to search for old topics. A promised upgrade from the forum software company is long overdue.

Here are two ways to search old topics:

Read and follow the directions and be sure to use the tips for searching in our Shop Talk Help forum:
http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=130853

Go to our Search page and use the Google search form near the top of the page. Click on the "www.oldgas.com" option below the search box.

KW,

I make a living researching things online, and know a few tricks. Not sure if these posts are what you were looking for from 2008, but here is a try:

http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8061&page=2

This might be what you are looking for - From Jan 2, 09 posted by you:

An easier way to search the forums with better results and accuracy is to use Google. You do this by clicking the Advanced Search in Google, and enter your search terms like normal, then add at the bottom where it says "Search within a site or domain:" enter: www.oldgas.com. This restricts the searched to Old Gas only and Google has the entire history of the site indexed.

A shortcut for the advanced search is just to enter this in the normal Google search box:

motorizing his VR site:www.oldgas.com

"motorizing his VR" is the search term I used, and the "site:www.oldgas.com" tells google to only look at results in that site.

Example:
http://www.google.com/search?q=motorizing+his+VR+site%3Awww.oldgas.com

Hope this helps,

~ Aaron

Aaron,
The Google site-search option was what I was trying to get across in my earlier post, but I put in an incorrect link. I just corrected that.
Here is the form that is on that Oldgas.com Search page:
Google

Try that form for your searches within Oldgas.com
