I have discovered a Standard Number 8 500-gallon bulk fuel tank. It appears to be from the 1920s. Interested in determining when this model would have been manufactured. The tank (including rear two-door compartment) measures 103" in length and is @4' in width. There are five fuel tank compartments.

Anyone know about this model tank and its manufacture era?

Thanks,

Dean

Keep in mind, Standard oil did not make tanks, gas pumps or tankers. If you find an old Coca Cola truck, it was not made by Coke, it was made by Ford, GM, etc.

These type of tankers were made by Heil, Columbia, Butler and a ton of others. Forget the Standard part, who made the tanker?

Jack,

Thank you for your reply. The only marking on this tank has the "Standard Number 8 500-gallon" engraved on a steel plate.

The tank is not on a truck. I would like to place it on a 1930 Ford A / AA 1 1/2 ton truck - provided the tank was built before the truck was manufactured.

I will try to submit photos of it soon.

Best,

Dean
