Unscientific poll .... how often are you asked when someone sees your 'stuff' .... "do you ever watch that Pickers show on TV?

Seems like I get asked that about every time someone new comes over.

Every single time!!! Then they act like I must have just started collecting since the show started!! Because who would ever think to collect that kinda stuff without a show to guide you on your path!

Yes to often, then they go on to tell me about this and that, that was on show. It has made picker experts to hear them talk.Funny I listen, gritting my teeth, then ask have you been to their new location here. 99 percent of the time the answer is no didn't know about that.
Notice new place opened up besides the america pickers store located here. Nashville Pickers trying to play off the name I quess.

Almost every time. What really irritates me is when they throw out some lowball offers on stuff.I must admit that I have been known to be short tempered on that one.I guess I'll have to listen to Paul about destructive behavior and learn to "grit my teeth" more often.

American Pickers have done more damage to our and other hobbies, watching them rip off everybody... and then they see how much money they have made on the RIP aka PICK ... They (the general public) think we are that way when trying to buy items off them.

Looking for Keystone,Pure,Sinclair,Texaco,Sterling and Gulf...Thanks, Brian

Everytime I go anywhere I hear something about American Pickers. I'm a 18 college freshman, and it doesn't cross anyone's mind that someone my age gets into this old junk. I've been around it since I was in the womb, and I've collected/ bought and sold it for nearly 9 years now.

don't want to know what you paid but was it close to what they said they'd get? When people ask me (often) I say never heard of the show which backfires sometimes because then they want to tell me all about it.

I actually talked to a friend the other day that had never heard of them. He called me to see if I was interested in some gas and oil stuff that a friend of his had. I know that he collects some antiques so I asked him if he watched them. He did not. I told him when they come on and to watch them. He said he would. Mitch

I hear it all the time with all the old toys and signs I carry to shows and markets. I get it in direct questions, or I overhear it when someone mentions it to a companion while they are standing nearby. When it's a direct question to me, it comes in two forms ... either it's "You ever seen that show Pickers on TV?" or "You should call the Pickers"

My standard answer is "Why would I want to call two guys from Iowa to come all the way here? I know plenty of people who are willing to buy without having to call them." (I sell in NC & SC).

Sadly these people are typical sheep willing to be led by the TV reality shows.

Collecting anything keeps you young at heart!
