Garage sale by my house, talk to the guy , mention I collect old signs. "I have several signs, I'm moving in a month and I'll be back in two weeks." Find out his father sold most of the signs he had. He says he will GIVE me the signs he has left. 1st hands me the Mobiloil (aged repo or genuine??? anyone know?) back in green, emobossed letters Uploaded with ImageShack.usthen hands me a Lone star beer tin sign then hands me THIS 28X20 DSP!!!!!! I have no idea what else he had, never got the chance to see the other signs, he had been collecting for years. (I have a feeling I would have gotten a pretty good deal on them)
I will NOT sell/trade/give away these signs.
I didnt know what I had till I got home... I figured I had something just being an extremely heavy porcelain sign.
I just didnt know they were that much...

The Mobile is original. The "green" back that you refer to was a substance that was used to help protect metal from rusting. This substance was used up through the 1960's. The best place you can see this is on ebay with alot of the mail pouch thermometers. Many sellers claim that the thermometer is original and then you see a wonderful photo of a painted back (usually red. The Power lube sign is a fantastic piece! I would say you did great on both signs!!!
