the shelving appears not to be high enough (the original 1916 Lincoln signs of that style had extremely high shelving that would be clearly obvious when a light is reflected point-blank off of it as in that first photo)

the back is far too uniform gray, as opposed to having the rack marks which are common to genuine porcelain signs of this era.

the grommet is a style that wasn't around in the 1910s - a genuine grommet would have a "petaled" back as they were made with the petals unfolded, and installation of the grommet meant folding the petals down to wrap around the sign. the "rivet style" grommets which were deformed into place were invented later: 1930s or so.

Jake tell us about your porcelain signs on Ebay, when they are really paint with a clearcoated finish? No repop marks or dates on the back of your Route 66 signs still to this day as promised 2 years ago.

I agree Neil,"not this sh** again".But for a different reason because I think Bud and Madison have raised valid concerns and deserve a response. Are they marked or not?Are they porcelain or not?Simple, direct questions that should require no more than a simple answer that will inform prospective buyers to be aware of what they are buying.Un-marked repops? To each his own.

I was not going to respond this time but I am Truely Baffled.

Jake is COMPLAINING that someone else has made a sign that IS NOT an exact copy of an original, it is obviosly different and the difference is noted.

Jake is bashing what a Reproduction should be, DIFFERENT Than the original.

Jake thinks it is just fine to make an EXACT COPY of an original sign and NOT DATE it.

Jake is getting praised for identifying someone that is doing JUST WHAT HE IS DOING.

What am I missing here, Fill me in because it just baffles me that so many stand behind someone that makes signs that are a HUGE problem and part of the destruction of this hobby.

I have an opinion on repops, I don't own any, marked or not. The reason I posted what I did was because I've seen many variations of this thread with the same people involved going back a long way. Nothing ever changes, ever. It was Albert Einstein who said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
