Don't laugh...Was there ever a Guaranteed Measure globe or was it just ad hype for all those Fry pump ads in the Saturday Evening Post? It would be a cool globe if done correctly. Dave

I had the same thought and have been looking everywhere for one. In my search I came across this globe.

Thanks, Mark

Well...let's see if this group of Petromobilia Professionals can come up with ANY info of this "mythic globe"?
Any takers;
WHO HAS ACTUALLY SEEN OR KNOWS FOR A FACT THAT THIS GLOBE DOES OR DOES NOT EXIST?
Thanks you in advance for your time...
Dave

I have one at home. It definitely does exist. It has punched metal "lenses" and looks like it was originally a green background with cream lettering around the punches. If I get a chance I'll take a pic. and post it.

Am not a globe person, but the GLM company was partialy owned by Mr. Fry, who owned a glass company that made all the cylinders used on these pump (that is why he invested in the company when it was started). So it is very likely that they also made some globes.
But, the 1917 GLM catalog I have shows two globes "GUARANTEE VISIBLE" AND "VISIBLE GASOLINE" but nowhere does it state that these globe are available for sale as an accessory (other items are offered). Both of these globes are Chimney Cap globes.

Not trying to prove anything, just adding to the contriversy.

Hello Mr. Sim,
I appreciate your time. As a collector/historian/archivist you are an invaluable source of information.
I am going to create(for my own use only) a "fantasy" globe for one of the pumps in my yard. I would appreciate it if you would take a look at it and critique(tweek) it for me when I am ready to paint.
Sincerely,
Dave Jones

i went to that hardware store that the american pickers went to in newberry SC and he had a punched metal one. if you can find that episode online im pretty sure it shows it in the background. he had it on display rather in the main part of the store.

Mr. Sim,
Here is just a rough drawing done on the computer. How about black letters on frosted lens? Any ideas ? color? font style? additional wording? I am using this on a 15 inch globe on an outside pump.

I have plans to do several Pump Company globes, there were some pretty cool globes shown on company literature, if there is enough interest I'll start out with these. Let me know and I'll go through my literature and draft a design.
