Be happy to store it for you (indefinitely) in a nice warm oil rack in a heated garage.LOL
No oil gets thick, but won't freeze well at least in temps that humans live in...

I have heard that oil freezes here in North Dakota, about the middle of January, but having lived here all my life, I can't prove it because its too cold outside in January, to go out and take a look! LOL

I live in Fairbanks Alaska and can assure you that oil will not freeze at 50 below! However it gets really thick. We glue silicone heat pads onto our oil pans to pre-heat the oil before we start our engines. But there has been many a day that I had to start my engine after sitting for hours without being plugged in. Kinda scary when you see how long it takes for your oil pressure gauge to come up.

One thing you may want to take into consideration is the oil will be very cold when you get a sudden warm day. If there is any amount of humidity in the air the cans will sweat like a cold can of beer on a humid summer day. Oil warms much slower than the air.

Oil will also shrink when it gets extreamly cold. A sealed quart of oil will dent from atmospheric pressure and stay dented.

I think this is your biggest detriment to storing cans outside. Can cause composites to start leaking too, for the same reason.

The most extreme temperature the oil in my car was ever exposed to in Northern Quebec about 23 years ago was -65 degrees with the wind chill factor. That 79 Capri started in the morning.
