The Oakdale Inn, showcaseing the gas station next to it, looks to be one of the early motels (geared towards motorists, not train travelers). Cool!

Great motel advertising...

Yes Yes! I really never noticed how they would sometimes just put those end cap islands next to the visible pumps. That way the pump would sit on the ground and then the island would still protect it. I learn alot of little tidbits from these great pictures.
