A couple weeks back, I posted some pictures of a Texaco Pole sign that I had found nearby but was covered with another sign and some paint! After getting it home, I decided that I wanted to clean it up before winter, so I took the porcelain sign out of the pole and brought it to my shop, on a small trailer. I've been working on it in my spare time and I finally finished it up , late last week!
First step was 2 applications of a good paint stripper to each side. I did this part outside at the farm because of the mess! Then I propped it up on some wooden two by fours that I put on top of my small trailer, so that it was flat and level to work on! After the 2 applications of paint stripper, I used a razor blade scraper to get all of those stubborn little flecks of paint that the stripper didn't remove. Then I went with Barkeepers friend to get the dirt and any stains, smudges,or rust spots off. That pretty well did it for cleaning and then I used some Howard's Feed & Wax to bring out the colors and the shine. It took about 15 minutes to put it back in the pole stand and now its ready to tuck away for the impending winter! One less job to have done before spring!!!!
First 2 pictures are as found and the last 2 pictures are the finished product!--ENJOY!!

SWEET KEVIN!

Reminds me of the Mobilgas Marine 6' shield I found years ago!

Protected by paint for an untold amount of time.
