What is a buyers premium? never done the auction thing before.

It's where they gouge you an additional 15 percent on top of what the item brought for the "opportunity" to bid on and buy it.

An additional amount you as the buyer pays. 15% buyer's premium means you pay 15% of the hamer price as the additional amount.

We call it "purchaser's penalty". Some auctioneers charge you as much as 18-20 percent to sell an item then charge the buyer an additional 10-15 percent. Sweet deal

Some auction houses not only get a BP, they can also get a sellers premium.
