Not that bad a price if you want one. Seen them go for way more than that before.

A can that doesn't show up very often even in our region.
One would think the someone had to "squirrel away" a case or two or more of the cans in the Portland/NW Oregon/ SW Washington area.

I dont think that matters much when it comes to cans. The graphics on a can is what sells them. As for my cans I prefer them empty but do have some that have oil in them.

Can't give you an exact year, but the US "flirted" with changing over to the metric system in the early 70s.
Jimmie Carter, when he became President pushed the Country even more so towards the Metric System. But, thankfully (IMO), wiser minds prevailed..... LOL
The metric system is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to confusing in my opinion and I need things as simple as possible.

Millimeters, centimeters and kilometers are not as confusing as inches, feet, yards and miles. Same goes for pounds vs kilograms and gallons vs liters.

Any language [metric system] is easy IF that's what you grew up with. Bad enough to go into Wal Mart & see everything written in Spanish [or as in parts of Los Angeles, Vietnamese, Korean, etc]!

Was watching a medical show where the doctor told the patient if the injury had occured 2 millimeters lower she would have been paralyzed. After the doctor left the patient asked the nurse what 2 mil was and the nurse showed her. 'Wow, that's not much' the patient replied.
So our science and medical professions do use it. And for some inexplicical (sp?) reason, so do soda manuacturers. 2 liters of soda anyone?

Also agree on the other languages (without getting too political)

I was never taught the American system despite growing up in the heartland in the late 60s-early 70s. I learned metric, and the only time I use the traditional system is in sewing and a hybrid mishmash for cooking. Rarely I used American measurements--mainly gauge and pipe measurements--in my first career. Even librarians use metric!

what year did they start putting liters on the cans I've seen QUART cans from the late 1940's/early 50's with .946 liters on the can as well.
