I noticed all the suppiers have quit selling the white rubber hose. Why is this? I have seen several restored pumps that this is on so, I would think it would be in demand. I Have a Wayne 60 that is screaming for white rubber and none is to be found! Any one know of anywhere?

I had one made up at THE HOSE MAN here on the west coast. It changed to almost a yellow after 2-3 yrs. Looks CRAPPIE.
I have a 15gal. HAYES in front of the house that HAD a red hose, it faded to PINK.
You might want to try the cloth covered hose [nylon fire hose] if you really want white.
The original cloth hose, was cotton cloth covered rubber covered flexsteel [like flex conduit]. db

Ron's white cloth hoses are excellent! I just got one for a Bennett 150 I'm redoing for 'The Keeper'.
Once I'm done with the restoration, I'll post some shots.
Later . . .

Not to sound stupid, but what is the significance of white hose. I see sevral Wayne 60s with it, but all the factory literature I've seen indicates a black hose. When/why was the white hose used. I'm redoing a Wayne 866 and if it should have a white hose that's what I'll use. Any help will be appreciated.

Personal preferances only. Early pumps had cotton covered hoses. Most clockface & later pumps used Black hoses. Some of the DIESEL pumps had Green hoses. Some Marina pumps used the White rubber hoses, because the Black hoses would leave Black marks on the side of boats. db

Thanks for all the info. I see what your saying DB but, It would just look really good on there since it is going in my house. I have had three people e-mail me saying they sell it so now find me the Hayes top w/ ears and I will be in good shape...lol. For a couple days anyways! Here is a pic of the project...will have better pics later.

Does anyone have a close up photo of the reproduction white cloth hose on a pump. I am interested in buying one for a Fry visible.

Chevron chaned their hoses to black synthetic rubber on all their pumps in 1938. Maybe thats a sign of the times.
Anything Chevron I'd rather be flying.....
