I get asked how to spruce up the computer wheels without spending much money. For somebody that just wants to make them look better I suggest the Sharpie method for indented wheels. It really does not take that steady of hand, anybody can do this. You know what they about practice.
Here is a typical Veeder Root with faded out wheels.
Use a brand new permanent magic marker. The trick is to use a new marker so that the tip is sharp, a used one is frayed and will get down into the number indentions. Use light strokes bushing over the wheel. Keep the marker end flat across the face of the wheel. Depending on the marker, you might need to make a couple of passes to get it black. I was in a hurry and this is only one pass. Had I went back over them again the black would have been deeper.
