This sure looks suspect: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-RED-HAT-...N-/260940415207Trying to find the pics of the real ones I've seen but the font in "Red Hat", "Trade Mark" and "Independent Oil" sure look like modern computer fonts.

I agree...should have had more that an "in line" 3 hole pattern....just my opinion.

All the originals I have seen are tin and say Approved Motor Oil. Font looks wrong and the hole pattern should be staggered.

Does not look right to me....grommets could easily be added on.

The font bothers me as well....looks like it's on a strict diet!

Just checked some pictures, I'll try to get one to post.
1) Trade Mark is a modern computer font 2) Originals I have pictures of all have a black flange and not a white flange. 3) Dennis is right about the "Approved Motor Oil" flange. Should be tin, i've never seen that in porcelain.

Just a thought: Did Vintage Concepts in Pittsburgh ever do this Red Hat sign (could explain the aged one in question now on eBay)? John
