Well after the long drive from Florida to Pennsylvania I finally picked up this sign. Its an extremely rare double sided porcelain long island duckling sign. There are very few of these known in existence and finding one is near impossible, I believe the number is 3 this being the 3rd one. It is in near mint condition with no chips in field and very minor edge chipping with beautiful gloss. NO touch-ups or restoration. This is the best sign i have ever owned it really makes me go WOW. Measures 60 inches. Also got the sunbeam bread sign from the same person which is also in near mint condition.

Thanks,
Robert

That makes at least 5 L.I. Duckling signs that I know exist.

Def in decent shape as most them seem to be...(cond 7 or better).

I hand paint #'d repro's and sell them but not 5' high.

Can I ask you to PM me what you paid for it? Thanks!

HERE IS THE ONE I SEE AT THE BIG DUCK...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Duck

Google Image search "The Big Duck" (Flanders, Long Island).

Here is an example of a 24" hand painted one I did about 6 years ago...

Unfort the flash wiped out the intensity of the orange letters frown

Thats a fantastic sign but sales of Long Island Duck must have been limited to that area, or the sign would be more widely distributed, I would think!
Doc or Robert, do you guys know the history behind the sign at all?? I'm just curious?

Kevin did you see this website?

I saw the "Big Duck" in a Documentary on PBS a few years ago, if I remember correctly....
