I'm going to list an original 12x27 glass cylinder on ebay tonight. I will post the listing later.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know what it was. Are you sure enough that I could mention that in the listing?

Any chance you would package it and ship it. I would think that a collector who appreciates the rarity and fragile nature of a cylinder would do a better job of packaging then "most" postal workers.
I had two original globes arrive broken and what a hassle collecting the insurance monies is. Still waiting more than two months. Not to mention the disappoint that two original globes are gone forever.
Just had three Hurst oil cans arrive all dented and beat up. Why someone would place three full cans loosely in a box is beyond me. Sorry; I think I'm venting......
I would bid on this cylinder if you would consider packaging and shipping it.
Thank-you,

The reason that I'm having a UPS store ship it is that they have the right sized materials (boxes & peanuts) to do a good job. They also have a guarantee that if they ship it and it is damaged, they pay for the shipping and the item. Everybody else just pays for the item. I would think if you told them to double box it or whatever you feel comfortable with, they would do it as long as you are willing to pay them for it. Plus, I'll be there watching because I'm going to deliver it to them. Thanks

Dave, I just realized that you are from Canada, I don't know how their guarantee works on shipments out of the country. Better check before bidding.

I have the exact same etched cylinder in my southwest pump and i bought three of them and had them shipped by ups and shipping was 75.00 apiece i dont know who packed them but they bubbled wraped and peanuts only one arrived broken and finally gave up on getting my money after a couple of months.

I have a US shipping address, I live less then 15 minutes from the Canada, USA border.
I wanted to bid on it but was afraid of the idea of it arriving broken. As per the above post it was 33% chance that it would arrive damaged. Thought that somebody local should get it, that way no risk of it getting broken and another original cylinder lost forever.
I find it hard to believe that It didn't sell for more. Someone got a screaming deal!

Yeah, I was hoping for more. I turned down a $500 offer. Oh well, easy come, easy go.
