Has anyone seen this sign before?

251006066519

I suspect it is "fantasy". But can't be 100% sure. I am researching its existence thru company contacts.
I don't think the seller is the one that made it.
I have 15 different Marathon Property signs dating as far back as the 1950's.
All are White on Red.
Only 1 version has the MARATHON OIL COMPANY in all caps, it is from 1975.
All others use "Marathon Oil Company" with caps on the first letters only.
None have grommets.
Attached is the version of this that I have.
Chuck

My first thoughts would be why would someone reproduce a plain sign such as this? If I were going to repro something it would be a more graphic sign. Looking at the seller's completed sales it looks as if he may have collected well signs and small signs such as these and the others sold look legit. Not to say a collector may not have unknowingly purchased a repro sign at some point in their collecting career, but I would lean towards genuine. The back looks like that grey splotchy finish you see on the reverse of Texaco pump plates. Most repros have white back sides.
Just my thoughts Chuck,
Darin

This sign would come from Marathon Upsteam and mine are from Downsteam. So could be legit. In 18 years of collecting Marathon items, I have never run across it.
