While doing a search on Washita County (this was mentioned in the thread “New oil boom”), came across National Route 66 Museum in Elk City.

Then for some reason or another did another search for ROUTE66 MUSEUM, and I got another link: Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton.

Looking at the photos of the National Route 66 Museum , I believe it has more Gas/Oil memorobilia. Am I correct?

Anyone that has visited both, please share your experience.

Thank you!

I have also visited both of them. They are not very far apart, and if you are on I40 well worth the stop. Like Jack said the one in Clinton may have a bit more gasoline stuff, however both are full of Rt. 66 memorabilia and a lot of Oklahoma petroleum history. and dust bowl pictures, and history of the highway, also talking informational tours inside the museum which covers automobiles, motels, drive-ins, car hops, music, filling stations, etc.
