Pogogas and I went on a short roadtrip, on the way I told him to drive by a place where I knew there was a European pump.

We drove past and there were 3 you could see from the road, but for some reason we did not take a pic. I know the guy so I could get pics another time.

They were all wall mount. One had a sheetmetal cover abit like the sight glass on a 6ft Bowser. This cover would swing open to use the pump. The others just mount on the wall, dual cylinders, lots of Brass and I think a small dial or clockface on them.

I think the first time I saw them one was marked Satam or perhaps Themis !!

Not pumps you see very often...

This is a "Satam" 1931 France

This is a "Sais" 1930 Italy

This one is a "L'Aster" 1933 France.

If you want to see more great European pumps check out the site www.museo-fisogni.org/indexi.html

The first two doc posted is like one we saw, except nicer, because at the top and bottom there was a cover that was halfroubd. When closed it looks like 1/2 of a cylinder with both ends rounded off!

I do wonder why the 2 cylinders when it appears to be a single pump?? May be the size?? as I think they were marked 10 litres, around 2 gallons...

Dodo, the two cylinders where there so that you could fill the first cylinder, then switch over to the second and while you filled that one, the first could be emptied. That way you could have a continous flow of gas and yet a small pump.
