This is an example of something I have told people over the years. Stations didn't have one lubster, they had a bank of them, different brands with different grades, and usually one for kersone. This is why the only part of the lubster that got a decal or sign was the narrow end. Not much was put on the sides as they were up against something.

That's similar to what I saw in the 1940 movie "Doctor Takes a Wife" last Monday, except each lubster inside the gas station was labeled on the end as Jack said.
