Actually it hangs off the ceiling about 3 inches, so I rotated the front side up flush to the ceiling and it cured the crick in the neck syndrome everyone seemed to be exhibiting.

VERY NICE, good investment, they was talking on Barrett Jackson that these cars was now being sought after and was demamding high value. Do your homework if its matching numbers and not cloned you should do very well.

EXACTLY! These are the cars the 50 yr olds drove. It was in storage in our building. Last year she wanted 6k. This year, with a DUI she took 2500.00. Spending the weekend getting it back to normal and cleaning. Then its for sale ..
ps.. I know for a fact its not cloned, the numbers checked out. As far as matching number, I guess I need the build sheet? It might be in it. If not, where do I go to find out that info??

BEING I BROUGHT IT UP ;I'll try but really my know how won't helP much. Chevy guys can break the vin number down. It will tell date built, orginal color, and that it is z car. Think you have to have build sheet to match engine block to paper work. If its not in glove box,it might be under back seat.
Hope this helps.

I decoded the vin last night. Its all there, paint, engine, seats, strips. The vin matches everything. Now I will work on the engine, trans, rear and see if they match. If I am lucky the build sheet will be under the rear seat. I will find out this weekend...

I've been lucky enough to find 2 more milk bottles from Longview Dairy's. The Highland is a display bottle from the early 30s. The Standard Dairy has a great image of their processing plant on the bottle ....

No problem, the Highland display bottle cost me approx $48 with shipping... Much less than the seller (and I) thought it would go for....

The Standard Dairy bottle went for approx $25 and included free shipping... The same bottle went for over $85 with shipping just a month before....

Because of the small amounts of the winning bids on both bottles, I almost feel at times as if "I stole" the bottles... LOL (but I'm not giving them back)

On Thursday, I stopped by the local Historical Society at the Longview Public Library to talk to a couple of the volunteers. None of them had seen a Highland Display bottle before (most hadn't heard of the Dairy)... In fact only 1 of the 5 was old enough to have any knowledge of the Highland Dairy....

A few more pieces of local history saved......

Nucky,

An old farmer recently showed me a slightly older Maryland dairy bottle similar to that, but rounded on the bottom instead of squared. He used to have a dairy in the days before pasturization. On one side it had the name of the dairy and on the other side, "Safe Milk For Babies." The swollen top part is where the cream rose to, and housewives had a special spoon that looked like a ladle, that fit just right in the narrow part. The 'spoon' wasn't for scooping, but to hold in place to pour out the cream while keeping the rest of the milk from pouring out as well. I had read about them in the local paper just a few days before he brought it in so it was cool to hold one in my hand. I was familiar with the shapes of Bobs nice collection, but this was different. Pretty interesting shape.

Nicole
p.s. Bob if you did have one of these in your collection, I didn't notice it because it was before I read the article and it wasn't on my radar. frown smile

it's the exact same size of the coke button with the 3 tabs, I placed it over the coke one and it fits the same, those were produced by langcat bussum, it's amazing of all signs produced in europe for american products

by the way sprite never produced many signs, I know around 20 different signs until 1970

Just bought this children's ride and got it working. Wet sanded the sides, they had been painted black. Which revealed silk screened painted advertising on the side. This is a probably from the 60's. Coin mech has been changed to 25 cents, even the rides weren't safe from inflation!

cool kiddie ride, are you planning to restore it ?

I just received this antique electric fan, really heavy, I don't think I'll restore it, the patina is great on it
