Looking at putting up a shelf in my media room to display some of my globes. Those that have globes displayed on shelves, at what depth are your shelves? My fattest globe is a Red Crown. Seems that I'd need a pretty wide shelf to display it. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Also anyone have a good on-line source for nice wooden shelf brackets. Local Lowes and Home Depot have nothing worth using. Thx! Greg

If you google corbels you'll find all kinds of people who sell them online. Depending on how fancy you want to get and the current decor of your media room corbels can get expensive really quick.

I've bought some from Rockler before but there are others out there that sell them.

Thank you all for the responses, pics, and links. I'll check out the Corbels that are available. Looks like there are some nice ones available. Chad/John, those are some strong looking shelves you guys built. For sure those aren't going to fall down when the house starts shakin'. LOL.

My plan was to run electrical wire from a wall switch over to the shelf and then run lamp wire in a channel cut out near the rear of the shelf and up to each lamp socket used for lighting the globes up. This seemed to work pretty good for my make-shift shelf I currently have sitting on top of a display case I have for some of my football stuff. This small display shelf worked good when I first started collecting globes, but now I need lots more shelf space. Looking like I'll probably leave my crown sitting on top of this cabinet and go with a 11-12" shelf based on what you guys posted. Thx! Greg
