hey guys,
just looking to pick a few brains and maybe even ask for a little help. i'm considering doing a pump for a fund raiser. i want to do something small, so that the winner would be able to get it inside if they wanted. maybe a bennett 766 or 966 or a small tokheim 39. something along those lines. here's were i hit you guys up for stuff...LOL
first, would you pay 10.00 for a raffle ticket to win something like this?
or is that to much?
second, would 250 tickets be to many to offer?
that would raise 2500.00 dollars to help pay the medical bills.
third, is there anyone out there that would be willing or able to donate some items...i.e. globe, whose, faces, repro signs?
i dont yet know what kind of pump or if i can even pull this off.
this is my buddy's nephew. he was just diagnosed with terminal cancer a week before his 21st birthday. my buddy brian, runs a body shop here in st louis at ROYAL GATE DODGE his wife tracy runs SPIRIT WEST AUTO BODY and her father own's WALTERS AUTO BODY. so the family is in the business and into old cars and hot rods. they are going to have a benefit golf tournament april 16th. and i am gonna try and unvail this pump there, and sell raffle tickets then. and was also gonna try and and have it at DOC's HARLEY DAVIDSON for there open house and ride in april. if patty bush will let me. (patty owns DOC's) anyway, just wanted some input on what you guys think. i have never done this before, but i think i can get it together. but any help would be greatly appreciated. just let me know what you think.
thanks again guys
mike

My globes are all 15" so they would be too big for a short pump, but I do have a 13-1/2" Bengals if you want to use them. You can definately put me down for tickets.

OK, i see there is gonna be alot of interest..you guys are awesome. i will get some things together and see what i can do. i'm gonna talk to a friend with several pumps tonight or tomorrow. see if i can talk him out of something decent, or at leasst see if i can beat him down on his price...LOL i think i'm gonna foot the bill for the pump, and maybe hit a few people up for the goodies to go with it, and paint will be no problem. i'm thinking red and white...i am a fan of both texaco and mobil and figure alot of hot rod guy woud like the same because they are so well known, rather than a smaller or more rare pump/color. i just think it might generate more interest from others that are not huge gas nuts. but still like the look of a nice nostalgic pump by the garage or in the livingroom. thanks agian to everyone, and john h...you sure i cant talk you out of that globe..i mean i'm offering to take it off your hands...LOL. thanks for all the support so far, and i will let you all know what and where and when and all that good stuff, keep the ideas coming. and i might need some help posting a few pics to....i can do before, during and afters. so you can all see the progress. and i will figure out something for all of you that would like a few tickets. maybe just have you send me the money with an address and i will mail back your tickets or something...however we can work it out. and again, you guys are awesome.

Mike, put me down for a couple tickets and will donate a nice pair of Calco-Meter faces for a Gilbarco 96c pump, if you choose that pump and need some. ericz inquired about its value and posted pics of this very pump about the time you posted yours.
Good Luck and keep us posted.

Mike, sorry about the news!
I have all kinds of original stuff, mainly parts. I also have a few repro pump signs and globes. Let me know what you're going with (pump model & petro brand) and anything I've got that you need for this fundraiser is yours if you decide to donate a pump. I would also buy some raffle tickets.
Good luck!

Hey Mike...
Nice thing that you are doing. You have a good heart.
I also will buy a couple of tickets... and if I should win, I will donate the pump back to your cause.
Also if I have any spare parts that you could use... they're yours.

ok guys, i got the pump, its a realy nice tokheim 300 with the add glass in the doors. i will pick it up monday.....unless i can get a truck today...i'm excited about tearing into this thing. it's missing a few things, but i have my GAS PUMP HEAVEN catalog here at work with me. so i will be making a list of what i need...lol. anyone got a piece a stainless trim for the top. they are both there, but one of em is bent, the other is perfect. i know i need door glass, add glass and rubber too. hose, handle and hose guards. if anyone has anything like this let me what you want for it and i will get some cash out to whoever needs it. i also will need the globe and contains lead signs, and some type of door signs. does anyone make a nice metal HARLEY DAVIDSON sign? i know alot of you guys have offer items and some might be things i have listed. i know cheese said he was good for a hose and globe ring and contains lead signs. CHEESE if you can thats awsome, if not i will help pick those things up, i cant expect or even ask you guys to foot the bill on this one. JOHN HOOSS also claimed rights to the globe, but the harley one is an expensive piece, so john if your still in i will help with that to. i appreciate all that you guys have done. i will get pictures throughtout the restro, and whoever wins, gets the photo album when i am done, just thought it would be a cool thing for the winner to have. if someone can help post pics, i will get some today or tomorrow, and we can get em on here so you guys can see the progress. i will get an address for those of you that still want to send something as far as parts. this will just be for parts right now till the tickets are printed, and then i will let you guys know how that part of it will work.
i will keep you all informed...and again, thanks
mike

Mikey...... give us an address to send the money to..... I'll buy a couple, but put your freinds nephews name on them.... and I think that if you are able to sell the 250 tickets nobody on here would be upset if you printed some more.... it is for one of the best causes...

Here's the project pump at home, I saved the best photo for last.

Next time you have to do it in a Mini Cooper! Put me down for some of those tickets too, I want you to deliver it to me in the Miata.

LOL...you guys like those pictures?...LOL

well first i want to say thanks to terry hubert for getting the hose and globe ring and contains lead sign for this pump.

and steve, you would be amazed what i would do for a good cause...LOL you want to see a visable in a miata...it's gonna cost ya..LOL but i will do it if i have to...LOL
and thanks to the others wanting to be in on this pump, weather it be parts, or raffle tickets, or just support. you guys are awsome.
i will have a list of the items i need to finish it by the end of the week. it's realy small stuff. with the exception of the hose guards, and the tokheim trim at the top. (which i only needed one of, but i got a little excited when i was tearing apart. needless to say i need 2 now) don and lynn have offered to help out by matching other veders prices, and helping with shipping and all...thanks don, and i told him i would order the items that werent spoken for by the first of next week.
off to the sandblasters here in about 30 minutes, hopefully the frame and base will be glossy black this weekend so i can start putting it back together. i will get pics and keep you posted.

Mikey,
I have two original Tok 300 trim pieces for the pump and your welcome to them. Only thing is the mounting screws on them rusted off. The trim is in excellent shape, you'll just have to put new screws on it. I also have some original hose guards for this pump, they are a little rough, but probably usable. You can be the judge. Put me down for a couple tickets and let me know where to send them.

hey guys,
wanted to say thanks to CHEESE, NEAL DUNN, JOHN HOOSS, and DON and LYNN for the parts and time they have donated. thanks guys.

anyone else that would like to send something contact DON before friday at 206 264 8807. we still have alot of little parts needed if anyone wants to pitch in. the pump frame is nice and glossy black. along with most of the internal parts. id did black both ends of the manifold. and painted the inside of the sight glass area in bright white. looks awsome with the polished spinner back in it. the tubing between the two ends is copper with brass fittings, which have been cleaned and cleared over. IT LOOKS GREAT!!!! so it's coming along. if someone can help me post pics again, i have a few more. and i will let ya know when i get the tickets, should be early next week.
take care guys
mike
