I have 4, 5 point shields. 2 are Mobilgas. 1 dated 1947 and 72" the second dated 1936 and I think like 56". The next 2 are both 48" SOCONY 5 pt. shields. 1 has no date because of missing porcelain on the tip of the shield point the other is dated 1934. I noticed on the 1934 Socony sign, the Pegasus is slightly different then the other 3. There is no blue outline and the Horses mane and tail are slightly different. The other 3 shields are all the same with the blue line present. So here are the million dollar questions. Why are they different and when did the design change and include the blue outline? Condition aside is one worth more then the other one? (The 2 SOCONY shields) I know were there is yet a 5th 48" SOCONY shield without the blue outline and is also dated 1934. It is actually the matching sign that went with the one that I have already purchased. What a picture it's going to be when I line up all 5 of them and get a photo!

The pegasus image without the blue border is older, but don't know the change over dates. The obvious answer is after 1934....if the 1936 one has the blue border, then I'm gonna guess 1935? The date could also vary by area of the country as well.

Richard,

That was my guess too based on the obvious facts. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks again for your input. I will get the pictures of the shields up after the monsoon of rain today. We need it though.
