I bought this thanks to an Oldgas.com member posting a link to a Craigslist ad. I had wanted one for a while and drove over 300 miles one way to go get it.

Prior to buying this I always wondered how the lubsters were sealed when the porcelain signs were utilized. For everyone else who has wondered the same. Here's what was done:

The tanks were die stamped with indentations and then steel stock was welded in that had a tapped hole and machine screws were used to attach the signs.

I took off the tacky reproduction signs and replaced one of them with an original 15" round porcelain sign.

I've seen these with taller cast iron wheels. The gentleman who I bought this from has had it since the 1950's and he has not changed them. are these shorter wheels correct? It sits level.

Now, I have to go find 2 original 15" porcelain signs.

I think the wheels are correct. If the axle shaft was higher it would have larger wheels.

Thanks DB, just the expert confirmation that I needed! I'm liking it more already, which I didn't think was possible.

Do the pumps have a manufactures name on them?
