Does anyone have an original flame attachment for this Standard sign? The sign is double sided porcelain and 42" x 60". The mounting holes for the flame attachment are 12" on center and there's an additional hole halfway between those two and about 3/8" higher. I assume the flame would be similar to the one shown in the bottom photo.

Thanks.

I don't think I can be much help locating the flame, but I think I can help you figure out what you're looking for.

Your sign was probably mounted in a bezel with a plastic 3D flame mounted at the top, and a part of the torch was also done in plastic and mounted at that hole (or stamped metal?). You can see a similar sign on my profile, sans flame. I think most of 'em got shot out by BB guns or worse. You can also see a similar sign here: http://mnprairieroots.wordpress.com/tag/vintage-standard-oil-sign/

And the whole sign, torch intact but faded here:

Hope this helps.

If you are looking for the original lights and a faded plastic flame, I think I still have both in the barn someplace.

I believe your sign used the two flat porcelain flame signs that were bolted to it via the 3 holes shown. I used to own one but I don't have any pictures of it. I see the porcelain flames for sale on eBay occasionally.

I recently found some NOS plastic light up flames in a bulk plant that would fit. I'll see the guy next month at Columbus. Good luck hunting. Goober smile
