The Automotive and Racing worlds, lost a giant today...

Carrol Shelby has died....

I personally knew Carrol, as my father raced against and for him in SCCA Trans AM races.... I got my start in racing partly because of Carrol and his generosity. As he helped me and Dad find my first Go-Cart....

Through the years we would occasionally run into each other at events... Then he got sick and I took a turn away from racing.... When I started vintage racing in VARA and a couple other Organizations we "ran" into each other at events again....

Carroll you will be missed by all who had the honor of meeting you and by everyone who ever owned a "Shelby" or wanted one......

He will long be remembered in automotive history as a visionary who accomplished great things in auto performance and racing. The original Cobras and GT 350s were awesome machines brought notice and respect to American cars in the road course world of racing.

I was in high school when Ford won the great 24 hours of LeMans and what an impression it made on me! I was always amazed at the things that Carrol Shelby accomplished and he was one of the men I admired most in this world!
Rest in peace Mr. Shelby!
