Five years ago I was driving down this farmers driveway and saw this pump
On the pump was sitting a nice bay globe. Not only was it a bay globe but a red ripple body on the bay globe. I talked to the farmer and then grabed a latter to take a look to see if there were any cracks and there was one small chip in the base. I was new to globes at the time and did not know how rare a ripple body was. I had mainly collected pumps and signs. Needless to say I wanted to buy the pump and the farmer was not yet ready to part with it. I have been busy and have not stopped back by the farm until this past weekend. I brough the farmer a repo american globe to trade to him with some cash with the globe. My heart sank when I drove up and saw that the pump was missing the globe. I spoke to the farmer and he remembered me. He stated the globe broke the same year I was there in a violent hail storm... My heart sank. I left the repo globe with the farmer and told him to call me when he was ready to sell the pump and he agreed. The worst part was that he said he was going to just give me the globe before it broke but forgot to ask if I wanted it. I guess that happens sometimes
