Lee, if you are looking for 1 specific book for values... I can not recommend one... All such books are too old to be close to correct...

If you are looking for a "General Information" book that shows signage, globes, colors and such... I personally recommend and use on a constant basis:

"PCM's Guide to Pump Restoration" Second Edition

In my small "library", I have the pink and blue globe books... I have 3 can books, the 2 oiler books, all 3 of Jack's books and approx 40-50 other books that directly deal with the hobby... Plus I have books on toys, radios and numerous books on Route 66, that for me are secondary sources of information.... All told, I have approx 90 books that relate to the hobby....

Scott's new globe disc (when it's released) and older two volume set, jacks latest pump book, Amistadi's book, both of Dan's books. I would think all of these could be acquired easily for less than $200 and provide an excellent all encompassing resource for the hobby

The aforementioned library along with Dan Matthews and Aumann's archive sections on their respective websites would answer 80%+ of the value questions on this website.

Tip: when using Aumann's website search "2009 and prior"

The ones mentioned above all have good reading for the Library/Office/Throne.
I recommend to everyone get 2 of Jack's Pump Books, 1 for home & 1 for truck/car that you use for scouting.

Wayne Henderson-Scott Benjiman's Globe book has gone up signifigantly in price since I bought my copy . Then too, several thought to be extinct globes have surfaced . Prices have flutuated all over the rainbow too. I will tell ya the Globe book is a great reference guide , jus forget the values . Ed Shaver

Values in any book is a good starting point if your not sure what something is worth. Even when books are published, author estimated values.

Even in the older books the value relationships are still a good reference. In other words, the common stuff is still inexpensive and the really good stuff in good condition is still more money. Remember which is which when you are out looking.

The new globe "book" on disc is scheduled to come out this Summer. I understand you'll be able to print out the pages that you want and have nice search and display features on your computer or compatible device.

For quart cans I recommend Tom & Susan Allen's American Oil Cans. Lots and lots of cans pictured in this book. I also like PCMs Guide to Gas Pump Restoration Second edition. Dan Mathews book is also a great book.

Hey DB, I recommend purchasing three copies of my book, one for the office, one for the truck and one for the bathroom where you do most of your reading.

On the serious side I do tell everyone I personally sell the book to, not to treat it like a Playboy and go the pictures first. No matter what book you purchase, be sure to read the beginning of the book, this is the part that answers questions.

Well here are the books that I bought from all your recommendation.

The two globe books that Bob recommended, Amistadi's and Dan's book that Okoil 1 recommended,
Scott Benjamin's Globe book that Ed recommended, Tom & Susan Allen's American Oil Cans that Jason recommended.
And to round it off as Jim suggested I also bought 6 various petro books from Scott Wright.

Thanks again for all the help I appreciate it.
Lee
