I’m looking for garage photos, or more specifically photos of what you’ve done with the collections you have (petroliana) in your garage. I prefer wider angle shots to close-ups and a resolution of 640 x 480, but any res will work. Your State of residence will help me to index the site. Don’t send any info you don’t want revealed (I DO NOT WANT YOUR HOME ADDRESS!!!). This is for a website http://www.garageaddiction.com/ That I’m building as we speak. You can send the photos directly to me photos@garageaddiction.com or if you have them hosted, such as at Image Shack, the address for me to get them. Thanks in advance for the opportunity to showcase your garage. Rod PS: Thanks to Les, Jason, and Daryl [This message has been edited by loftbed (edited 12-14-2008).]

Mike48, Looking good! send me some more as you progress, and I'll add them to these. Jerry, Thanks for the tip, I've pirated a few from that site already, but I'm more interested in pumps etc; and how they have been incorporated into the garage scene. I appreciate the help though. Thanks Rick and Matt. Rick, your photos are now on site. Matt, your next. There are now eleven garages featured and some cool YouTube links about pumps, stations and other related items (on the links page). Here's an example: service station link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YyCWTE1ZvY&feature=related Rod http://www.garageaddiction.com/ [This message has been edited by loftbed (edited 12-17-2008).]

This is a photo of my re-created 1930's-40's station that I built 26 years ago at our local steam engine show grounds. We actually pumped gas for exhibitors and for grounds maintenance from a Wayne 60 pump. Photo was taken by private photographer & submitted for use in "Antique Automobile" magazine (official publication of the Antique Automobile Club of America, H By Savinsam ershey, Pa.) Photo was used on cover of July-August 1991 issue. Picture was posed at non show time. For more pics of station at show time, go to http://www.portersvillesteamshow.homestead.com Click on office-gas station. Sam

Back in 2006 I began a renovation of my detached "back" workshop. It was a fun project and quite a challenge, but in the end it was very rewarding. The garage was not in the best shape when I started. All of the exterior cedar trim boards were tacked onto studs with no sheathing or insulation, so the entire space was drafty. I took everything down to bare studs, ripped out the carpenter ant-invested sheathing (see picture below) and punched out two windows to let in some natural light and provide extended views of the ocean mountains from my workbench area. The insulation now makes it comfortable to spend extended time here. I removed and beefed up all of the electrical and added outlets so that I would never be more than 2' feet from power. It might sound overkill until you realize just how convenient it is to have power at your fingertips. Although the space is only 550 square feet, I had fun with it and took the time to do it right the first time around. I conducted a lighting analysis by importing the dimensions of the space into a software program that I use to provide lighting calculations & renderings for electric lighting and day lighting system analysis. I removed the cheap hanging fluorescents and replaced them with two T5 HO fixtures for ambient lighting and six halogens for task lighting directly over the workbench area. Better lighting makes such a difference! Wanting the space to feel open ... and also not have the overhead garage door obscure the ceiling and great lighting I'd just installed by a door and the operating hardware ... I decided to replace the 20 year old overhead garage door with beautiful swinging carriage doors. It was one of the best decisions that I made. The existing floor had a peeling epoxy floor which I upgraded for porcelain tiles. I was looking for a classic, timeless look and decided on a diamond-shaped pattern with a pattern that I designed consisting of 85% white tiles and 15% black tiles. With the slatwalls, beaded ceiling and moldings installed, I then installed new cabinetry, which sure was a vast improvement from the melamine cabinets before them. Three new porcelain enamel neon signs, a very cool crankshaft lamp, and a few lighted gas pump globes & antique memorabilia really create an atmosphere. I have three Wayne pumps undergoing a full restoration in Associated, Polly and Gilmore colors respectfully which I hope to add to the space soon. You can view a video of my garage on YouTube by clicking on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyYaPoaN_9A Here are some pics:

Youdaman Savinsam! Simple architecture as in bygone era country settings but very well presented. Vintage LaSalle and Chevy are jewels, and graciously complimented by gents in period appearing attire. Congratulations on your project hope people around there appreciate your talents and labor, now maybe I can persuade you to come help build my vision. (as in Hometown old gas image) LOL

Sam, Outstanding! just what I'm looking for. If you can round up some of the interior, that would be great.
Chad, Equally outstanding! Now we have the vintage garage (Sam's) and an example of a modern garage Mahal, all in one days post. I see you're in Beaverton, so another Oregon addition. We'll have to get together some time?
I should have both of these on the site in the morning.

Rod, thanks for the kind words. I've had the station open for the public to see, three shows per year for last 26+. The inside is completely filled with era decor, however, I have to take most of it home each year during the winter; thus no pictures on hand. Two years ago some "bottom feeder" stole the Wayne 60 plus items inside. I lost a lot of faith in public after that. Sam

A one wall shot of a quick remodel. The boards were my neighbor's old crusty looking fence from when fences were made of real boards. I just took a wire brush and bleach to them. The upper is simply corrugated and I had galvanized bent up to cover the shelving so I could easily clean up the residue from those ever seeping full cans. The base cabinets were originally just open shelving. For the doors, I made some frames, covered them with corrugated, and added vintage car interior door handles for, well...door handles. The opposite wall is filled with the kitchen cabinets and counters from remodeling the house. Yes, I recycle when I ship eBay packages, too. I added a second image for those of us who are beginning, at a certain age, to become visually challenged. By daverichey By daverichey
