MM: Unable to email direct. (My system, not your's) I wouldn't rent to someone unless it was short term. If the place goes bankrupt or they skip town..your signs could be tied up in legal action or jsut plain gone. Can you get insurance in Canada to cover your collection?

Rules of thumb on renting a house is at least 1% of the appraised value per month.

Hey: I had about 500 Cities Service Motor Oil Quart Cans about 5 years ago, A movie was being made in Dallas, Texas they found out about my collection and rented them for about a month, I deliever and pickup. I took a deposit plus rental and it work out great for me. They were shooting at a old station and need to fill the shelfs. The movie producer call me paid me via overnight federal express they had to have them there within 24 hours. I had just bought a big collection out and it worked great for me but I was probably just lucky. Cash & Cathy

Cash,

What movie, I want to see all of my old cans on film.

Regarding rental, I know a couple of collectors in Tulsa that rented to a local steakhouse for years, they used an annual rate and had a contract (thus there was documentation that they were not part of the resturant property.) Fee was a flat rate based upon # of items. Something like $100 @ 50 items or 5k/year but this several years ago.

I rented 2 1960's pumps for a low budget movie. Got $100 up front & they picked up & returned. They signed an agreement to pay $250 total for loss or damage if they didn't return in same or better condition [was really hoping either would happen]. They never used them for the movie.
