Anybody know what the original colour of the base,pole and frame were on a Gargoyle Mobiloil Lollipop curb sign?

Black with red and white letters I think.
Always looking for grizzly gasoline stuff, or any Montana gas and oil stuff.

...solid red...the letters on the base were not painted, as they were not there to advertise the product - rather, they were there to mark the expensive base as property of the advertiser...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

The ones I seen were red.... Never paid much attention to whether or not the lettering on the base was outlined/highlighted.... But as gulfiend! said; other era bases I've owned were not outlined/highlighted.... Here is an image from the 'net:

I'm going to send mine to the paint shop and was trying to keep it in it's original colours but that cool detail on the base has my brain all messed up now!

Here is mine Has some very old red on the base letters looks original to me very hard to see just my to cents. I agree with all of you just do it the way you want. I don't think there is a right or wrong way.
