Hello All,
I don't know how others feel, but with the recent addition of quite a few new members (and even some older ones!), I wanted to mention I think it would be nice if you guys could sign your name to your posts when you are asking questions. I love to reply to any of the questions that I am able to help answer, but I hate replying to member XXXXXX, instead of John, Bill, or Joe. smile
I guess at 36 years old I'm kind of an "old soul" so to speak, but I like addressing people by name instead of a handle. I've even had a couple PM's from new members and they don't sign their names, which I think is kind of odd personally.
I know some people may be big on privacy or being transparent, so this is just a suggestion, not a big deal I guess.
Have a good one,
Darin

Darin you are out of line. Totally kidding I agree. Sometimes I have to go to a members profile to see what their name is. If we were all on cb's we could stick to handles only:) good post Darin

Being new to this exellent forum i totally agree with you Darin. It does seem more personable and "old soul".It would be great to meet each collector in person to share our stories and put a face to our computer names.I definitely have no problem with this and would even give out my neighbours credit card number on my signature if it helps me with any questions i have! LOL

Darin, I agree... In fact I asked a few months ago, that everyone please add their name to their profile.

With it in their profile, only Oldgas members will be able to see their real/true identity (for those who are more safety conscious than myself.... Like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman.. well you know who you are... LOL)

Great idea! Being on first name basis promotes friendship. Making that personal connection is the first step in developing a rapport which instills a sense of trust and respect. I believe this thread exemplifies this, in that it is two pages long and no one has taken any offense to any post....or disagreed. Very well may be a record!

I think your right Dave that's got to be record, and I also agree with the post.
That's why I always end a post with, "Thanks Lee"

I guess it's a matter of personal taste . I moderate on another forum where the persons actual first name is already posted at the bottom . Thats the way we set it up. Some people have this "Extreme " Parinoia idea that they'll be found , with what, hell, I dunno. I sign my real name cause I have nothing to fear from anyone , including some Government helicopters !

I'm with you on that Ed. I have always used my name, I still have one of those antique land line telephones so I'm still in the book. I figure if anyone really wants to find me it's pretty easy. I live directly across from the Hillsdale City Police Department, so anyone can ask them where I'm at. I don't fear too much either! wink
