This sign looks "funny". The color appears to be "off" and it just doesn't seem right. Someone please tell me that I am imagining things and that no one has reproduced a 6 foot DSP sign.Dave

I was watching that sign. I thought it looked nice, but noticed the extremely bright colors.

That's what I was thinking, if they start making repops of the big 6 ft signs this hobby is really screwed.

The sign looks right to me, but I'm not an expert on signs...

We owned such a sign in the late 60s, that if I remember correctly, we picked up in Florida.....

I could be wrong, but it looks like the one I have a vague memory of.... I will be interested in what Gulfiend and others who are more in tune to signs have to say about it....

Gulf was experimenting with color variations and various sign manufacturers in this era. The decision had been made to replace the traditional orange disc logo with something more modern as far back as 1957. I pulled a number of 1956-1963 Gulf signs out of the bulk plant in my hometown back in 1978, and there were slight variations in several. The later ones (this one is 63) were a more vivid orange. They went to the new disc in 1964, so this is one of the last ones made, and is no doubt original.

Umm... don't forget the most obvious reason... digital cameras can be more sensitive and the seller may or may not have properly adjusted the image contrast!
