Well, I've found another. Much smaller than most of my displays. But, nevertheless, a true example of 1950s Americana: Ken's Flying A Service... car organizer....



I don't smoke and when I did, I smoked cigars... So I am wondering if anyone has a display where they have an extra pack of cigarettes that are from the 50s? The pack doesn't have to be "real", just something that looks authentic and will fill the open space for cigs...

Bob how wide is it, maybe only no filter shorts will fit.
There was a pack of lucky strikes at moms house,I moved that smoke stand to new place,I'll look to see if they are still in it,but don't get your hopes up.

I have a couple old full packs of Raliegh cigarettes around, If I can find them I'll send them to you

Loyd, the compartment is 1" wide and 2-1/4" long so I figured that an early pack of unfiltered short... Lucky Strikes or Kool...

As I said I never smoked cigs, so I honestly have no idea what the dimensions of a cigarette pack are... LOL

They stand up,I had it in my head they layed down on their side. so any pack will fit. I'll ck,and see if they are still there.

I bought a "fake" pair of 50s/60s Aviator Sun Glasses off of eBay last night for $8 and picked up a toll token for the Astoria Bridge, so my little display is getting there...

They are 2 1/4 wide.ill put them in with your other package.

Wish i had some to send you Bob! While were on this subject, have you ever seen the old packs with the change inside the cellophane? (like 12 cents) I think they were used in vending machines before they had changers. Put in a quarter and your change was in the pack. That would be pretty cool in your display.....should have bought some when i seen them..Owen

Thanks to Maurice and eBay, the 1950s Car Console Organizer lives again....

2 Packs of period correct smokes (thanks again Maurice!!), matches from Flying A Stations, Toll tokens from the Vancouver-Portland US-99 Bridge and the Astoria-Megler Bridge give it the correct Pacific Northwest/South-west Washington flavor.. Plus a funky pair of Tortoise shell shades... Completes the look and is a trip into the later 1950s/early 1960s, again....




My Grandmother (my Dad's Mom) and her Boyfriend smoked. Grandmom had such an organizer glued to the dash of her Rambler.... I had forgotten about that until my Mom made a comment about how things go around/come around...

Seeing it completed, I now do remember such consoles in other cars and trucks of the era....
