Wilcox was a smaller independent oil company out of Bristow, Oklahoma with their main office in Tulsa. Started by Homer Wilcox. I collect Wilcox Oil Company items and still keep in touch with the members of the Wilcox family.

Thank you Maurice..... Its in rough shape, even the bottom is rusted out, but is it worth anything? Or do I cut it, and flatten it into a tin sign?

I have 2 different 30" Wilcox signs and I am always looking to upgrade. I have this 5 gallon can and to me if it was nice $100 would be a bargain. Maurice

Pretty neat old can, PULEEZEE dont flatten it. I dont have a 5 gal. can, and would buy it if you wish to sell. I have a small Wilcox collection, 3 differant Qts, a 30" Wilcox gas with ethyl, 4 ft square gas sign, a couple Wilcox grease cans,a few maps, and several Wilcox lease signs with the emblems, one without. H.F.Wilcox was credited with starting the oil boom in Gray co Texas, in 1927 he brought in the Worley #1 flowing 2000 barrels a day, and shortly afterwards #3 came in at 5000 barrels a day. By 1932 he had over 50 wells on the Combs-Worley ranch. The old #3 is still producing today. I think I read some place that he also built the first airport in Tulsa.

That is interesting to know, Maurice..I forgot to mention, Wilcox had a refinery in Gray co tx in the 30s, and there was a community, or oil camp, named Wilcox, even had a post office..It still show up on some maps, but the only thing there now is a oil co yard. [PETCO] These leases have been thru a bunch of owners since Wilcox, Boone Pickens[MESA] had them at one period.
