Hello everyone. I just bought an early Hayes(Wichita) visible pump without the glass cylinder and I really need to find an original etched glass cylinder in good condition. It's the one with the gallon markings etched in the cylinder. I am also in need of an original top and the four corner pieces of trim that go on the outside edge of the corners of the pump. If you have any of these or other Hayes visible parts send me a PM. Thanks, Braden Splichal

Ron Scobie makes both the corner pieces and the bonnet. The bonnets always seem to be missing on these as they were only held onto the pump by gravity.

Okay thank you. I really would like to go with all original parts though because only the bonnet, corner pieces, and the cylinder are missing. It's the first pump made by the Wichita Company, made in 1921. Thanks, Braden

Braden, I thought maybe it would help if I posted pics of my Wichita pump. The cylinder is hard to get a pic of. The etched cylinder is 27 in. tall and 12 in. diameter. There were maybe 2 different bonnets. Mine is very heavy cast and is NOT bolted down so be careful if you ever go to move one of these pumps as they could fall off and hit you pretty hard. Mine wasn't made for a light but put one on it anyway to show globe and cylinder. I think the illuminated bonnet had 2 ears where the lights were.
Hope this helps.

Just curious, Braden. Is your serial number higher or lower than mine? I have not seen another Wichita other than mine.
Good Luck!

I don't know if this helps or not,,, there are likely some glass cylinders out there that are close to those measurements, 27 x 12 .... I know a very common cylinder here in Canada is the one for a clear vision/SSE visible and it measures 12-1/2 x 26-1/2, don't know if that would work or not ? But they are easy to find usually around the $400-600 range and have etched numbers.

Rod:

I'm restoring a Hayes "Wichita" right now. The serial number on the ID plate is 1982.
