Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

A Shell collector in Illinois has one on ebay--describes it as a fake, listed it for $75.00,obviously it will not sell.He bought it thinking it was original, found out different and keeps it on ebay as a warning to buyers. He claims they were never original.

...I don't think they're right either, too many decals for a disposable item, and from an individual station as well?...
...seems the vendor on icollect247.com is an Oldgasser...

Most state laws required that glass motor oil containers have permanent marks embossed in the glass or ACL fired on, showing the line where "Full" was to be. Look on known legitimate oil bottles to see "Fill to Line" near the neck.

At Hillsville Va. yesterday. Saw another at a local flea market this morning. The dealer that had these at Hillsville has about 80% fake and aged items and spikes his booth with about 20% real items.
They are like the Hudson jars, all nice even oil patina on the labels but off course in perfect condition. I thought when you get oil on a paper it kind of makes it soft and it disintegrates ?
