Hello, I have used an iron, but do NOT allow the iron to touch the map. Place another sheet of regular copy machine paper on top of the map AND test in a small area first. I always just had the map graphics enlarged at Staples framed the enlargement.

I'd really caution against this. If this is really 1920, it's very rare, and any heat could really accelerate its deterioration. It's 92 years old. A few wrinkles are acceptable.
Go the reproduction route, and frame that.

Frame it tight and the folds won't show. Don't iron it!

Jon, I'm not sure if you are wanting to show the graphic panels or the whole map? So I'm not sure if my photos will be of any help? Here are two of my maps that I framed to show the most graphic panels: Not sure if the photos helped or not?....

Here is a cool Shell Map I have that I framed. It is from the Old Shell station here in my hometown.
