Just got a beautiful 3'x5' NOS Marfak sign that was packed in bubble wrap.
Now I've got circles in the red area. Before I destroy this trying to remove them any suggestions? My experience says the are there to stay. HELP!!!

I always wrap my stuff with paper towels (before any kind of wrap) because of this. I'd try a wax, lightly. Don't think you'll hurt a thing that way. If they're on the red, they're on the white, black and green ?

This is why we are supposed to wrap with the circles to the outside. Best of luck!

Does the same thing ? Wrap with paper towels, not news print either.

I've never had it happen as long as I wrap with the circles pointing out. I also use a water based bubble wrap which helps. It's actually semi-organic and turns to water if exposed to heat and direct sunlight.

I don't doubt the paper towels would help too.

I treated my cans the same way when shipping. I always treated everything like a cars finish. Would you put bubble wrap (either side on your car ?) or news print ?

Just saying....

Sign is looking great. Will post in BOTW. Paper towel works great for smaller signs. This thing really needed a sheet. I wouldn't put any bubble wrap, either side, against a painted surface. Thanks Again!

I agree- I NEVER bubble wrap a painted sign- the oil in the plastic will bleed every time - I've even had it damage a powder coated surface. Should be ok with porcelain. I've never tried the "green" bubble wrap?

I've never had an issue with a sign shipped to or from me but I can see the point.

I just started using the green wrap last year. Had no issues so far and used it on everything I have shipped, painted metal, tin, porcelain, you name it. It's water based so I doubt it has any oils to leave a mark.

Wow, I never gave any of this a thought about bubble wrap or newspaper causing a problem. Once again I learned something at this site.
Thanks everyone

First sign I ever bought and had shipped to me the guy shipped it in a tight bundle of bubble wrap taped all over with clear packing tape, which was also stuck in various places to the painted surface. The sign went from mint to trashed and i returned it to a very unhappy seller..

Reminds me of the guy I saw driving away from a swap meet this hot summer with a freshly painted gas pump wrapped up with a sea of old afghan blankets to protect it on it's journey in his truck.
He stopped to quench his thirst on the way out,and I don't know if he was the buyer or seller, but I could see roughly a 1/2" of lint sticking to it from 20 feet away.

Oooh I've had this problem in the past and won't forget it. He's absolutely right about damaging a powder coated surface because that was what happened to me. I restored a short ROE clockface pump and the customer wanted it powder coated to match something else he had. It came out perfect until the ride over. Luckily I got them to come out with VERY light polishing. I don't ever put that bubble wrap on until the baby blankets are on there first! smile Goober
