I have finally seen it all with this "rare" sign. Unbelievable that its up over $60!.....Someone correct me if I am wrong but there is several things wrong here. 1. This was never an actual logo with the large dino. 2. Even if it was the small dino, it was never made in a 12" round pump plate. 3. Even if it was originally made in 12" round and the small dino, it would have never been curved because of the time period it would have been used ('60's). That is strike three!....Ya, it is "rare"! No, doubt about that!........I am not totally against reproduction signs like a lot of oldgassers. I think there is a time and a place for them, but it is ridiculous when people knowingly try to pass of repops as originals. They are definitely getting smarter about it with there descriptions by calling them "rare", "vintage" or anything but "original".

I already messaged this seller this morning. I advised them that their Sinclair was a repop/fantasy. They also have a round Mobil and a fake Coke round sign. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about, and they "know it's old.".

Never know for sure if the link is a true story or not, but if it is then it's too bad that paypal and or ebay doesn't get that tough on all the petro fakes out there.

It's Not the 1st time I've heard/read of similar stories. BUT I think the item should be Confirmed by at least a Qualified Expert & loser of dispute Paying the FEE of said Expert, Before Item being Destroyed.

I sent them the following message--

Your pump plate is a fantasy item that was never produced by sinclair oil corp. The curved pumpm plates were used on visible gas pumps and all oil companies had switched to electric computer type pumps by the time that this logo was adopted.
Your ad should reflect this information and anything less is an attempt at fraud. I have reported this item to Ebay!

We'll see if I get a response!

Kevin, I imagine a number of people have sent an email/message to the Seller... Including myself...

The Seller responded to me, telling me that the sign wasn't a pump plate but instead was for a Motor Oil rack display... After I directed them to the Sinclair Collectibles and PCM's Gas Pump Guides....

When I pointed out to them that if the sign had been real; it would not read gasoline but, instead Motor Oil...And would be flat not curved.....

They said thank you and didn't change the auction....

I even directed them towards Oldgas.... They don't care... People are bidding on the sign(s)... Check out the H-D signs and the others....
