I picked this up a short while ago from a friend. I always wanted one of these stationlighters. I need some help with the mounting though. The original globe holder seems way too flimsy to support the weight of the light. It has to be mounted with a different holder or use bolts in those factory holes in the base casting? I also got an adapter in the parts but I don't think it even belongs to this 585.

The adapter is not a part of the stationlighter. Its an adapter that enables you to use a 7 inch globe on a 6 inch globe ring.
That stationlighter wasn't made for that pump. It was made for a Wayne 60. There are some brackets that were made for the Wayne 70 and 100 series, to mount a stationlighter and they would help solidify that lighter.

KW, WRONG. His Station Lighter was made in 1947.
The 1938 WAYNE 585 S.L. was really made to be used on any pump that was still in use at that time, not just Wayne pumps.

Thank you DB, I stand corrected! I guess I was too sleepy to not notice that it was the newer one!

Mike this station light looks just like yours and I think this picture was taken just a few days before you got yours. Should I give away the location of one of your favorite picking spots? I would but that would also not be good for me! Just kidding the set up looks great and I can't wait to see it finished. Some one needs to step up and sell you a Firestone globe for it!
