This is not the cleanest one of these I've ever seen and the price is kind of up there. Why is there so much interest in this. Is there something special about it?

And yet hears another one, that is nicer, and hardly any action.

Looking at the Feedback #s of the two main bidders, it jumps out at me.... Both are brand new to Ebay and I suspect to Collecting... It would not surprise me if they know or have an idea of repops and are under the misconception that if a plate looks "used" it is the "real deal" vs a plate that looks pristine... I could be wrong, but I bet I am pretty close to being spot on...
An item that is weathered and beat-up looks old and original... An item that looks like it was made yesterday.....
We have even seen it here, when a sign/pump plate is shown that looks "Too good"... there is suspension about it... The same about an "overly" weathered item... Both can be fake or both can be real.... But until a few years ago, there was less suspension about "weathered" items than about "nearly NOS" items....
Or atleast that is my take on what I am seeing, lately......

So if I'm stepping in what you guys are smelling, there is absolutely nothing special about this sign more active sign. In fact quite the contrary it sounds like. Crazy! Well I'll keep my eye on the cheap one.

I agree even the common Texaco pump plates that were selling for $80-$100.00 as little as a year ago are consistently demanding $125-$150.00.
